TMS Unveil new Surveying Vessel
The Sea Seeker, a completely refitted and refurbished surveying boat, is now available for charter. With a commission already completed for Southampton-based EMU Ltd, the well known marine environmental consultancy, the well equipped boat has already been in operation. It is expected that other organisations in the following sectors will be interested:
- Hydrological surveyors
- Off shore wind farms and energy suppliers
- Environmental research organisations
- Public sector marine and environmental agencies
- Universities
- Waterway authorities
- Port and harbour authorities
- Hydrological surveyors
- Marine engineers
- Conservation-based charities
Sea seeker is equipped with:
- Twin drum winch with capstan head, capacity 1 tonne at core.
- Winch rigged with stainless and galvanised wires.
- 500kg at 2.5 m hydraulic crane.
- 2 tonne, 3 position gantry on the stern.
- Inset moon pool with working covers.
The vessel has a large area in the saloon dedicated to charter’s electronic equipment. Supplied power is 12, 24, 115, 240, 415 volts. It has a service speed of 8.5 knots and has a large fuel capacity.
Accommodation for up to 3 extra persons is possible on board and there is a well equipped galley, shower and toilet.
The vessel carries an extensive inventory of life saving equipment over and above what is required for CAT1 workboats.
The crew is well qualified and experienced; the Master holds a Class 1 ticket and has captained survey/research vessels for over 20 years all over the world.
The vessel can be used for a wide range of activities:
- Towed array surveys.
- Grab sampling.
- CTD sampling.
- Hydrographical surveying.
- Benthic sampling, including small trawls.
- Plankton sampling.
- Dive surveys.
- Buoy servicing.
- Crew changes.
- General standby duties.
TMS are flexible in helping their clients and alterations can be made to suit the Charter’s requirements. These would be carried out by the TMS engineering and welding team.
